The NFL has announced that they won't be fining Ezekiel Elliott for using a "prop" during a touchdown celebration last night in which he jumped into a jumbo-sized Salvation Army pot that was sitting near the back of the endzone. That's right, the NFL actually got this one right.
You can't in good conscience punish a guy for bringing awareness to an organization like the Salvation Army that helps millions upon millions of people in need, especially during this time of year. So credit the NFL for opting not to dock Zeke roughly $12,000 for breaking the "excessive celebration" rule.
Although, Jerry Jones was really hoping for a fine so that he could take the NFL to the Supreme Court...
"I think the Salvation Army should give him the highest award," Jones said after the game. "My dream would be for the NFL to really fine me a lot of money and I'll take them to the Supreme Court and we'll get the Salvation Army more attention than anybody can get them. So let's go."
Elliott briefly spoke about his celebration after the game, saying he saw the Salvation Army pot sitting there during pre-game warmups so he knew what he had to do if (when) he found the endzone.
