Gucci Mane turned heads in September when he casually mentioned that he had recorded a song for Outkast. An Andre 3000 rep quickly denied anything of that nature, but unanswered questions lingered. In a new interview with Creative Loafing Tampa, Big Boi clarified that Gucci had recorded a song for his upcoming solo album. "Me and Gucci have a record," he said. "When he said 'Outkast' he was just saying that I’m part of the group, so he was excited because the song was jamming like a motherfucker. I do have Gucci on this album, most definitely."
Big Boi said that the album was 80% complete and will reflect the current political climate to a degree. "It’s a time capsule," he explained. "It’s like a diary, so it won’t be preachy per se, but I drop some things here and there, and people might to look up or read more, but there is an awareness."
Big Boi's last solo album was 2012's Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors. He released Big Grams, a collaborative EP with Phantogram, in 2015.
