The New England Patriots suffered a 31-24 loss to the Seattle Seahawks at Gillette Stadium last night, marking their second home loss of the season, something that hasn't happened since 2012. Just in case you forgot how dominate that Pats have been, especially on their home turf in recent years.
In the Super Bowl 49 rematch, the roles were reversed as the Pats were on the goal line late in the game with a chance to take the lead but Tom Brady was unable to connect with Rob Gronkowski, resulting in New England's second loss at home of the year.
Per ESPN:
"I mean, it didn't get called. It is what it is," Gronkowski said. "If it's not a PI to the refs, then it's not a PI to the refs."
"The play is what it is. You can't really change it."
"I mean, there was a lot of -- there's always a lot of contact with that team," Brady said. "Sometimes you get the call; sometimes you don't. So certainly, it looks like it came down to one play, but there were a lot of plays in this game that we could have done a better job of."
Prior to the Patriots' final drive, Pete Carroll opted to go for two in an effort to put the Seahawks up by 9, rather than kicking an extra point and giving his team an 8-point cushion.
Bill Belichick was flat out baffled by the move, but he can rest easy knowing this was merely a Week 10 game for the 7-2 Patriots and not a Super Bowl victory that slipped through his fingers.
