As the presidential election approaches, many forget that more issues are on the line than just Head Of State. Five states have marijuana legalization on their ballots, and one of those states just got an enormous endorsement. Nancy Pelosi, House Minority Leader and former Speaker of the House, has endorsed Proposition 64, the bill to make the recreational use of marijuana legal in the state of California.
Pelosi revealed this endorsement while discussing the upcoming election day with The Los Angeles Times. When asked if she was going to vote for Proposition 64, Pelosi replied: "“I will vote for it, but I have not made a public statement about it until right this very second."
This is indeed Pelosi's first statement on the legalization of marijuana, and reportedly the highest endorsement from an elected official this legislation has gotten. Stay tuned until after Tuesday when the fates of marijuana in California and four other states are revealed.
