USADA suspends Jones for the maximum penalty.

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has officially been suspended for one year by the United States Anti Doping Agency, stemming from his positive test for two banned substances, clomiphene and Letrozol, which prevented him from fighting at UFC 200 in July.

The one year ban is retroactive to when the test results came back, so Jones will be eligible to return to the octagon in July 2017.

According to MMAfighting.com, Jones claimed that his positive test was due to a contaminated sexual-performance pill, but the arbitrators in his case said that Jones didn't do his due diligence in determining whether or not what he was using was within the confines of the UFC's anti-doping policy and the WADA Code.

"His degree of fault in fact verged on the reckless," the arbitrators wrote.

The one year ban was the maximum punishment that could've been handed down to Jones, who missed out on roughly $10 million by not fighting against Daniel Cormier at UFC 200.
