Halloween was tough for Christopher Ramos. The 24-year-old Times Square street performer makes his living dressing up as the Cookie Monster from Sesame Street. According to the New York Post, he was stabbed in the head last night (October 31) while attempting to break up a fight.
It has been reported that the fight was fueled by an argument between two men about cultural appropriation, as one man was dressed as an American Indian. The other man involved, dressed as a Tuskegee Airman, reportedly stabbed the Cookie Monster in the head after he tried to intervene.
Although conversations about cultural appropriation are important to have, we hope that most of these disputes did not end in the stabbing of an American icon. Ramos currently faces non-life-threatening injuries, while both men involved in the initial dispute are still at large.
