Slated to play the role of "Fagin," Westcoast legend Ice Cube is on the roster for Disney's upcoming "Oliver Twist" adaptation. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cube will be co-producing and co-writing the project as well through his Cube Vision banner. The movie will be a musical re-telling of the classic Dickens novel, incorporating hip-hop among other genres into its numbers. Here's a synopsis of "Oliver Twist" from THR:
"Oliver Twist is one of Dickens’ most famous works and tells of an orphan boy who moves from a life as an exploited child laborer to being under the wings of Fagin, a leader of a gang of London pickpockets. Hardship, murders and secrets waiting to be revealed follow the boy."
Also attached to the project is Thomas Kail, the director of Broadway mega-hit "Hamilton," so rest assured, this project's in good hands. No word as of yet on release date.
