MCW will instead wear #7.

Earlier this week the Chicago Bulls agreed to a trade with the Milwaukee Bucks which sent Michael Carter-Williams to Chicago in exchange for Tony Snell.

Shortly after MCW's arrival in the Windy City he was reportedly set on wearing the #1, his old number that he wore at Syracuse as well as during his rookie season with the Sixers. However, this was just "too soon" for many Bulls fans who still have fresh memories of their former #1, Derrick Rose.

Enough fans came at Carter-Williams on twitter that he eventually just agreed to wear #7 as to not disrespect D-Rose or any of the Bulls faithful.

Here's what MCW had to say about the matter, according to the Chicago Tribune:

"I’ve been No. 1 a lot. The discussion is probably going to be about D-Rose, that was his old number. It has nothing to do with D-Rose, who was great for this city. He’s an excellent player. I’m not trying to step on anyone’s toes or anyone’s boundaries. It’s a number I like."

"They asked me what number I wanted. I said one. There wasn’t too much discussion. I know this organization respects Derrick Rose. Like I said, it has nothing to do with stepping on anyone’s toes or anything like that. He was a great player. He did a lot for the city."
