After just one year in the NBA repping for Nike, Kristaps Porzingis became a "sneaker free agent" this off-season and Adidas is trying to steal him away from The Swoosh.
The Knicks rising star has reportedly signed a deal with Adidas worth anywhere from $3-6 million, depending on a number of performance-based bonuses. Although Porzingis has agreed to the contract, Nike still has a chance to match the offer and keep him with the brand.
Due to Nike's "match clause" they have until mid-October to match, but reports suggest they won't be matching the Adidas deal.
Kristaps wore the high-top Nike Kobe X Elite throughout his rookie season last year but it looks like he might need a new go-to shoe for the 2016-17 campaign.
