This morning commuters from New Jersey were involved in an unfortunate accident, when the train they were riding was derailed and crashed into a New Jersey station. Reports circulating this morning reveal there is at least one dead resulting from the crash, and about 100 others are injured, some of them quite seriously.
The commuter train reportedly crashed into the Hoboken Terminal building on Track 5 around 8:45 AM, the New York Times reports. The train was travelling from Spring Valley to Hoboken. A senior transport official spoke to the NY Times anonymously (he is not authorized to speak publicly) saying, "There are fatalities. There are a significant number of injuries. The train was going very fast. There are structural concerns about the facility."
Train service has been suspended following the crash, as well as the PATH service which travels from New Jersey to Manhattan.
