Last week's biggest news story continued to be The Game and Meek Mill's beef, which has now spiraled out to include accusations of ratting, an alleged brawl with Beanie Sigel, and literal beef in the form of Philly Cheesesteaks. Thankfully, it's also produced three diss tracks thus far, and as is often the case (seven of our Top 100 tracks of all-time are disses), they're the most popular tracks either rapper has released in over a year. The lifespan of a diss is usually shorter than your average hit single-- once all the shots have been fired and all is said and done, they usually don't have much playback value-- but especially for spitters like Meek and Game who aren't topping charts these days, they're vital for maintaining popularity.
The Game scores big with two tracks in the top 5, but it's Chris Brown who comes away with the most appearances here, with two tracks as a lead artist and one feature. New tracks narrowly missing out on spots in this week's list include Tory Lanez and Rick Ross' "Super Freaky" (#11), Lil Uzi Vert's "Ready Set Go (VLone)" (#14), Wiz Khalifa and JR Donato's "Stranger Things" (#15), and Lloyd Banks' "Reap What You Sow" (#18).
10. Gucci Mane Feat. Young Dolph - Bling Blaww Burr (Prod. By Metro Boomin)
La Flare's Woptober arrives in a few weeks on the Brick Squad boss' favorite day of the year (10/17), and last week, he gave us our latest taste. "Bling Blaww Burr" reunites the duo from "Strippa," a highlight from Young Dolph's August release Rich Crack Baby, and especially with Metro behind the boards, that means it's a slapper. This track debuts at #10.
9. Chris Brown - Lady In The Glass Dress
First appearing on 2014's X as a minute-long interlude, "Lady In The Glass Dress" always seemed like it had more potential, and last week, Breezy allowed it to breathe in its full three-minute version. The slow-burning record was one of two big Breezy records from the week, and it makes its debut at #9.
8. DJ Khaled Feat. Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Future, August Alsina, Jeremih & Rick Ross - Do You Mind
We're going on nine weeks since this first hit our charts, and it keeps bouncing back. The star-studded "Do You Mind" was at #10 for the second time last week, but it's bounced back to #8, making it the longest-tenured track of the year. For DJ Khaled, the "less is more" rule never applies.
7. YFN Lucci Feat. 2 Chainz & Lil Wayne - Key To The Streets (Remix)
YFN Lucci's looking like more and more of a major player in Atlanta, where his Wish Me Well 2 tape has been one of the hottest releases all year. Its big single, "Key To The Streets," got even bigger two weeks ago when the all-star duo behind ColleGrove, Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz, replaced Migos and Trouble on the track. In its second week out, it's dropped from #5 to #7.
6. Danny Brown Feat. Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul & Earl Sweatshirt - Really Doe (CDQ)
Phewwww. Four of the best bar-for-bar rappers of the last five years on the same track? This is the best shit since "1 Train." Danny Brown's Atrocity Exhibition doesn't arrive until Friday, but "Really Doe" is more than entertaining enough to tide us over until then. The posse cut makes its debut at #6.
5. The Game - 92 Bars (Meek Mill Diss)
Since Meek Mill's retort didn't drop until last Monday, The Game's "92 Bars" was the only diss track from this ongoing beef to make last week's list. It's now ceded some ground to the two ensuing (and superior) diss tracks, but it's a reminder that Meek needs to improve his turnaround speed and frequency of dropping these things, because this is the second summer in a row that he seems to be on the losing end. In its second week out, "92 Bars" drops from #3 to #5.
4. Chris Brown Feat. Bryson Tiller - Keep You In Mind
When I interviewed Bryson Tiller before his album Trap Soul dropped last year, he said that he "[couldn't] wait to work with" Chris Brown, one of his favorite artists. Just under a year later, it's come to fruition on "Keep You In Mind." Tiller's stock has now risen to the point that the track's numbers are elevated not only by Breezy's presence, but also by his own now that he's risen to the ranks of R&B royalty. "Keep You In Mind" debuts at #4.
3. The Weeknd Feat. Daft Punk - Starboy
Before last week, the only people from the hip hop/R&B world to work with Daft Punk were Pharrell and Kanye West, so The Weeknd should be feeling pretty pleased to be joining such elite company. "Starboy" is the lead single and title track to Mr. Tesfaye's upcoming Thanksgiving release, which sounds like it could offer the best of both worlds between his newfound pop stardom and more mysterious beginnings. "Starboy" debuts at #3.
2. Meek Mill Feat. Omelly & Beanie Sigel - OOOOUUU Remix (The Game Diss)
The lowest-rated song that's come out of this beef thus far (69%), this remix of Young M.A.'s "OOOUUU" is pretty ironic in that Meek centers his diss on homophobic slurs, and yet Young M.A. herself is gay. Omelly and Beanie Sigel do a good deal of the heavy hitting for their Philly compadre, so Meek better get more reps in before it's too late. This Philly "OOOUUU" remix debuts at #2.
1. The Game - Ooouuu (Meeky Mouse Diss)
On the flip side of the coin is the most popular (84%) diss track of the Game/Meek beef thus far, yet another "OOOUUU" freestyle. On this one though, Game goes it alone for close to six minutes and goes full no-holds-barred on Meek, calling him a rat, insinuating that he smoked crack, and reminding him that Drake "buried" him last summer. This one debuts at #1, and you can most likely expect it to stay here next week, barring more diss tracks.
