Yahoo has confirmed that at least 500 MILLION user account credentials have been stolen, which would make it the biggest breach of all-time, surpassing Myspace's hack of 360 million and 427 million passwords.
According to the company statement, Yahoo "has confirmed that a copy of certain user account information was stolen from the company's network in late 2014 by what it believes is a state-sponsored actor." Two years ago and everyone is just finding out about it now?
Although Yahoo believes that no credit card or bank account information was stolen, the hack of 500 million accounts did include names, email addresses, phone numbers, birthdays, hashed passwords, and some "encrypted or unencrypted security questions and answers." They don't believe the hacker still has access to Yahoo's network or internal services.

Recode's Kara Swisher estimates that the hack job could have an impact on the $4.8 billion sale of Yahoo to Verizon. Here's what Verizon had to say about the devastating breach.
