It's becoming more and more likely that the next home of the Oakland Raiders and the "Black Hole" will be Sin City.
The Raiders have officially filed for three trademarks to the name "Las Vegas Raiders," which seek to give the franchise exclusive rights to use the name for sporting events and to sell the phrase on all Raiders apparel from helmets and clothing to jewelery and play figures.
According to ESPN's Darren Rovell;
"Six filings have sought to trademark the phrase before the Raiders did, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office reviews filings in the order in which they were received. Those who filed -- all six on Jan. 29 and Jan. 30 when owner Mark Davis began his flirtation with moving to the city -- will likely then have to make the case that their filing is unrelated to the team."
The Raiders have a one-year lease to play out this upcoming season at O.co Coliseum but are reportedly interested in opening a new domed football stadium in Vegas that would cost approximately $2 billion.
Since the Rams moved to L.A. and with the Raiders in need of a new home, the move to Vegas seems like a no-brainer. Having an NFL team in Sin City will be absolute madness but if there's one team that embodies that it's the Raiders and their raucous fan base.
