Birdman is a blackbelt in ripping people off. So it is shouldn't come as a surprise that his label Cash Money is now being sued for $3.3 million for unpaid sample royalties.
According to TMZ, these new lawsuits against Cash Money were filed by artists sampled by two songs: Lloyd's "You" feat. Lil Wayne and Glasses Malone's "Certified" feat. Akon. "You," which peaked at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2007, samples "True" by the 1980s British rock outfit Spandeau Ballet.
"Cash Money don’t pay royalties," "6 Foot 7 Foot" producer Bangladesh has said. "You have to sue these guys so that they pay up.. it's [Wayne and Baby's] responsibility to pay [me] because all the money from album sales goes to Cash Money. I get checks from Sony for Beyonce, checks from different labels for different artists, it just comes to you. You don’t have to call them, sue them and all that junk. This is what you're owed."
