In terms of the calendar, summer is winding down, but someone forgot to tell that to the rap game. We've only seen things heat up in the past week, with SremmLife 2 providing more than enough turn up fuel for the next few weeks, and P3 reminding us to squeeze every last bit of fun out of summer flings before cuffing season arrives. The next few weeks only get crazier-- we get Young Thug's Jeffery tomorrow,(or possibly August 26th, Lyor Cohen and Thug don't appear to be on the same page), French Montana's MC4 and Tory Lanez's I Told You on Friday, and (hopefully) new albums from Travis Scott and Post Malone the week after that. Frank who? We've got enough to last us til Labor Day without R&B's missing man.
Our Top Ten reflects this chaotic rush to the end of summer's finish line, with no artists appearing twice on this week's list, which is a big change-up from last week, where PartyNextDoor made up 2/5ths of the entire thing. New tracks barely missing out on spots include Travis Scott and Kanye West's remix of Alicia Keys' "In Common" (#11), Rich Chigga's "Who That B?" (#14), The Game's "Sauce" (#16), and Travis Scott's remix of Usher's "No Limit" (#17).
10. Curren$y Feat. Wiz Khalifa - You In Mind
Last Tuesday marked the seven year (!) anniversary of these two stoner rappers' joint tape, How Fly, so they decided to come through with something new for the fans. It's unclear yet if "You In Mind" will appear on their long-in-the-works follow-up, #2009, but for now, this will do. "You In Mind" debuts at #10.
9. Mac Miller Feat. Anderson .Paak - Dang!
Anderson .Paak's story is one of great talent and persistence, busking on the street and performing in various bands until he caught his big break last year. The performance of "Dang!", his new track with Mac Miller, on our charts, mirrors that, taking three weeks to crack into the Top Ten. Last week it was at #12, but it rose three places to land at #9.
8. Isaiah Rashad - Free Lunch
This long-dormant TDE spitter hadn't made a peep since January, when his "Smile" single seemed to suggest that his follow-up to 2014's Cilvia Demo would be on its way shortly. That didn't happen, and the anticipation seems to be killing Rashad's fans, as they came out in droves to play "Free Lunch" and award it a 93% user rating. The new track debuts at #8.
7. DJ Khaled Feat. Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Future, August Alsina, Jeremih & Rick Ross - Do You Mind
This jam-packed single off of Khaled's Major Key seems poised to top "For Free" and "I Got The Keys" as his most successful track of 2016 on the radio, and on our Top 100, it's sticking around for quite a while as well (although it probably won't top the 1.2 million views "For Free" has gotten on HNHH). In its third week out, "Do You Mind" slides three places down from #4 to #7.
6. Desiigner - Tiimmy Turner (Prod. By Mike Dean)
Khaled's "Do You Mind" is the track with the second-longest tenure on Top Tracks this week; Desiigner's got #1. "Tiimmy Turner" dropped four weeks ago, and it's still around. It's the last we've heard from the Brooklyn newcomer, but with buzz this long-lasting, why rush a follow-up when he can continue to ride this wave? In its fourth week out, "Tiimmy Turner" holds it down at #6.
5. PartyNextDoor - Don't Know How
Three out of the four tracks PND threw up for last weeks list fell out of the Top Ten this time around, but no worries, the only one that's actually on his new album, P3, made the cut once more. Whereas "Don't Do It For You No More," the Lil Yachty-assisted "Buzzin," and the Quavo collab "Cuffed Up" all dropped out, "Don't Know How" actually rose up four spots from #9 to #5 in its second week out.
4. Rae Sremmurd Feat. Lil Jon - Set The Roof (Prod. By DJ Mustard & Mike Will Made It)
SremmLife 2 is packed with bangers, so choosing a clear winner is a near-impossible task, but in terms of sheer firepower, this one's up there. In addition to Slim Jimmi and Swae Lee, you've got three guys who've made the Billboard Top Ten their home at various times throughout the past decade, Lil Jon, DJ Mustard, and Mike Will Made It. The result is as dope in reality as it sounds on paper. "Set The Roof" debuts at #4.
3. Tory Lanez - Cold Hard Love
I thought that "Flex" might be the last single Tory released before I Told You arrives (this Friday), but one more snuck out before then. "Cold Hard Love" continues the hint that Lanez's debut might be 100% R&B, as it's even less tied to hip hop than its predecessor, but that's definitely not a bad thing. The airy new joint debuts at #3.
2. Travis Scott - The Hooch (Prod. By Boi-1da, Vinylz & Allen Ritter)
Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight will finally drop on August 26 if all goes according to plan. Before he announced a release date though, last week, during the inaugural episode of La Flame's Beats 1 radio show, he teased fans with a new record. "The Hooch" was accompanied by two remixes, and judging by the response it's gotten on the site, things are looking up for the upcoming project. "The Hooch" debuts at #2.
1. 2 Chainz Feat. Drake - Big Amount
Another week, another Drake appearance in our #1 spot. He was in the same boat (or B.O.A.T. perhaps) last week, as his and 2 Chainz's "Big Amount" sticks around for another go at #1 in its second week out.
