Thanks to his Birdman situation, Lil Wayne will have to wait a while for his case with Universal Music Group to begin.

If you remember back in May, Lil Wayne filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against his former label & Universal Music Group for allegedly cheating him out of royalties. The former Cash Money rapper is seeking at least $40 million in damages over those royalties, which comes in part from his role in discovering and signing DrakeNicki Minaj and Tyga. But unfortunately for Wayne, he’ll have to wait a little while before he can see any of his money because the entire lawsuit has been postponed.

According to various reports online, a federal court judge ruled that Weezy must first resolve his dispute with Birdman before his suit against UMG can move forward. They believe that the decision on the Birdman case will greatly affect this UMG lawsuit because of the two cases similarities.

Rumors online say that it could be up to a year before the case heads to court, which isn’t very good for Weezy. We’ll keep you posted if & when more on this story develops.
