Lira quits soccer to focus on playing video game soccer.

A Brazilian soccer player, Wendell Lira, who recently won the 2015 Puskas Award, has announced his retirement from the sport in order to focus on playing the video game version of the sport, FIFA.

The 27-year old Lira mentioned some lingering injuries that contributed to his decision to retire but his main goal now is to concentrate on achieving ESports glory playing the beloved soccer video game full-time.

And as it turns out, he has a bright future ahead of him in that realm because he's damn good at FIFA, having trounced the 2015 FIFA Interactive World Cup winner Abdulaziz Alshehri, 6-1.

Retiring at the age of 27 to play professional video games full time? Knew I should've been an international soccer player.
