The New York Knicks have officially signed Amar'e Stoudemire, but only as a technicality so that he could retire as a member of the Knicks. Not the Phoenix Suns, the team that he was with for his first 8 seasons and experienced the best years of his career with. The New York Knicks.
The six-time All Star (five of which were as a member of the Suns) made the announcement today in which he said his heart has remained in the Big Apple and proclaimed, "Once a Knick, always a Knick."
Stoudemire played a crucial role in bringing the Knicks somewhat into relevance back in 2010 which led to them landing Carmelo Anthony via trade, but there's no denying that this is a very bizarre scenario considering most remember his best years as a dominant force for the Phoenix Suns.
But, here's to wishing Amar'e a retired life full of wine baths far away from any unforgiving fire extinguishers.
