When it comes to the trap, the streets, or the clubs, no city has its pulse on the hottest sounds like Atlanta does. It's been that way for over a decade now, and it won't stop anytime soon. Outsiders might be well familiar with the city's top artists, but it's the DJs that help break a lot of the biggest records, and some of these songs might not hit cities like NYC until months after they've been circulating the airwaves in Atlanta. To get the rest of the country familiar with what's dominating the clubs in the A thus far into the summer, DJServicePack.com has enlisted 6 of the city's top DJs to put together a list of the 7 hottest records in ATL.
Hosted by E Sudd, 2 Chainz' DJ, the panel includes DJ Blak Boy (Travis Porter), DJ Princess Cut (Hoodrich Ent./Hot 107.9), DJ Pretty Boy Tank (former DJ of Bankroll Fresh/now with Hoodrich & Hip Hop Nation, DJ Tephlon (Berner/The Other Guys), and DJ Ray G (Migos/Hot 107.9).
After much discussion, here's their final list:
1. Dae Dae - "What You Mean"
2. YFN Lucci feat. Migos & Trouble - "Key to the Streets"
3. OT Genasis feat. Young Dolph - "Cut It"
4. Future - "Wicked"
5. Yo Gotti feat. E-40 - "Law"
6. Young Dolph - "Get Paid"
7. Young Thug feat. Yak Gotti - "Pull Up on a Kid"
There are a few surprises in the list, including the No. 1 spot going to the Nitti Beatz-signed newcomer Dae Dae, whose breakout hit is ubiquitous in Atlanta but hasn't quite blown up outside of the city just yet. Pretty Boy Tank remarks that even his auntie and his kids have been singing along to "What You Mean." The list is evidence that the Memphis sound of Gotti and Dolph is more than welcomed in Atlanta and also that "Cut It" has proven OT Genasis to be far more than a one-hit wonder. There's an array of Thug songs that could've snagged that 7 spot, but upon another listen, "Pull Up on a Kid" is a sure bet. "Panda," a ATL-inspired track from a man who's never been there, gets brought up, and is promptly dismissed from the conversation.
