"The system is broken. Point blank period."

In light of the horrific murders of two black men, Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, as well as last night's tragic killings of five Dallas police offers, many public figures are using their social platform to demand justice and inspire change.

Athletes in particular have a strong influence on our communities and Carmelo Anthony has called upon his peers to step up and take charge. In a lengthy, well thought out instagram post, Melo encouraged his fellow athletes to go to their local officials, leaders, congressmen, assemblymen and demand change.

In addressing our nation's broken system, Carmelo said, "We can't worry about what endorsement we gonna lose or whose going to look at us crazy. I need your voices to be heard. We can demand change. We just have to be willing to. THE TIME IS NOW. IM all in."

While we search for a solution, it is crucial that we come together as people and create the change we wish to see. It is extremely important that the people who have the ability to influence the masses, like athletes and celebrities, use their status as a means to guide our nation down a positive path because we need it now more than ever.

It's good to see one of the NBA's biggest stars step forward to lead the charge.
