While the luster around getting a Hollywood Star on the Walk of Fame has diminished over the years, it’s still great to see people from the hip hop and R&B community getting the recognition they deserve. Ice Cube, John Legend and New Edition have all been selected to receive a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame in 2017.
The rapper and R&B singers are joined by musical legends Hall & Oates and the boy band *NSYNC (apparently, the star is part of their name). Also part of the Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2017 are actors Amy Adams, Dwayne Johnson, Chris Pratt, Ryan Reynolds, Tyra Banks, Lee Daniels, Hugh Laurie, Sarah Silverman and Jeffrey Tambor, among others. Each inductee will schedule their own “star ceremony,” which will be held at some point in the next two years and will be announced here.
Ice Cube is having a nice hip hop middle age, recently being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with NWA. Meanwhile, New Edition are set to have something of a cultural revival with BET’s upcoming biopic on the influential boy band.
