Former Tennessee Volunteers head coach, and the winningest coach in Division 1 college basketball history, Pat Summitt has passed away at the age of 64.
Pat Summitt battled Alzheimer's disease for five years and during the last few days she was surrounded by family, friends and former players at the retirement home which she had been staying at for most of this year.
In her 38 years as head coach of Tennessee, she boasted a record of 1098-208, winning eight national titles in the process. Summitt's 1,098 career wins ranks as the most in men's or women's NCAA history but her impact on the game cannot be quantified. She changed the way people viewed women's college sports, across all platforms, and without her contributions the WNBA wouldn't be what it is today.
