Let's face it, as far as high-profile tracks go, there's no way this week (or any week really) could have lived up to the seven days that preceded it. Drake, Kanye, Jay Z, Justin Bieber, Gucci Mane, Travi$ Scott, and Pusha T all joined forces with some combination of one another to make for the craziest batch of tracks we've seen in such a short span this year. This week had its fair share of dope music-- a new Lil Wayne sports anthem, Tory Lanez's hot new single, Kodak Black's amazing new tape-- but as you can guess, our Top Tracks chart mostly contains songs that were released seven to fourteen days ago. Indeed, the entirety of our top five is comprised of such tracks.
Songs that barely missed the cut this week are Travi$ Scott, Young Thug, and Quavo's "Pick Up The Phone," which slips from #4 to #11, Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa's tour-promoting "Kush Ups," which debuts at #12 (we may see it in top 10 yet), the full version of Lil Wayne's "Moolah" remix (#13), and (somewhat unexpectedly) DMX and Styles P's "Still Scratching."
10. Usher Feat. Young Thug - No Limit
Usher Raymond returned this week with two new tracks: a ballad called "Crash" and the Young Thug-assisted "No Limit." As you can probably predict, the song centers on the time-honored tradition of using the name of Master P's label as a rallying cry for a no-holds-barred lifestyle, and Ursher even manages to slip in a "Make Em Uhh" reference. Thugger doesn't waste a second of his verse, coining the term "Bacardi Barbies" along the way and finally getting a chance to show his unabashed romantic side on a track with radio potential. "No Limit" debuts at #10.
9. Meek Mill, Rick Ross & Wale - Make It Work
Before 2016 even began, we'd already heard two versions of "Make It Work" (previously just called "Work"): a solo Ricky offering right after the release of Black Dollar, and a Meek-and-Wale-featuring edit on November's Renzel Remixes. Now outfitted with entirely new verses and a bit of tweaked production, it's apparently a single for Self Made Vol. 4. "Make It Work" makes its debut at #9.
8. Pusha T Feat. Jay Z - Drug Dealers Anonymous (Prod. By DJ Dahi)
We still don't have the details on either of theses dudes' upcoming projects (save for the title of King Push's, obviously), but excitement for both couldn't be higher after the wildly successful "Drug Dealers Anonymous." It's pretty crazy that this is the first time that these two icons have linked up on record, and the concept is apt, as well as perfectly-executed. "Drug Dealers Anonymous" drops from #3 to #8 in its second week out.
7. Tory Lanez - Luv (Prod. By Benny Blanco & Cashmere Cat)
T Lanez notched his biggest hit to date last year with the 90s R&B-sampling "Say It," and now he's looking to eclipse it with his latest, the decidedly poppy "Luv." Trend-wise, it seems like a calculated move, taking advantage of OVO Sound's recent movement of capitalizing on Toronto's metropolitan character, specifically its Caribbean population. With soft-focus dancehall currently very en vogue, it seems likely that "Luv" will do the trick for Tory. The new track debuts on our Top 100 at #7.
6. Lil Wayne - Off Off Off (Cavs Song)
With the Cleveland Cavaliers currently one game away from losing the NBA Finals, it seems as if Lil Wayne's endorsement might not carry the same luck as it did for the Green Bay Packers in 2011. Still though, a new Weezy track? We're here for that. References to the entire starting five abound, and Wayne also becomes the only rapper I've ever heard use the other meaning of the word "cavalier." Props. "Off Off Off" debuts at #6.
5. Drake Feat. Justin Bieber - One Dance (Remix)
As OVO Sound Radio airs on Saturday evenings, there's never much time for its new tracks to make a dent on HNHH by the time Top Tracks rolls around on Monday morning. One of the three Drizzy cuts debuted during last week's bonanza, "4PM In Calabasas," barely made the cut in the last edition, but this week, all three are in the top five, including this remix of the Views single that's currently tearing up the charts. The Bieber-assisted remix of "One Dance" rises 13 spots from #18 to #5 in its second week out.
4. Kanye West Feat. Desiigner, Travi$ Scott, Big Sean, Gucci Mane, Yo Gotti, 2 Chainz & Quavo - Champions (Round & Round)
Whewwwww. Now that we've got the CDQ version on iTunes, we can fully bask in the glory of the G.O.O.D. Music posse cut that Kanye shared to honor his shitshow of a GovBall-redeeming tour of NYC last weekend. All the major players, minus Pusha, are here, as well as four well-deserving southerners. Dear Ye, please make 2 Chainz the CEO of your label's new division, G.O.O.D. Music South.
3. Drake Feat. Gucci Mane - Back On Road (Prod. By Murda Beatz)
Gucci Mane's "First Day Out The Feds" fell 29 spots this week after two weeks in the top ten, but lucky for him, he's got new friends in Drake and Kanye. "Back On Road," produced by Drizzy's fellow Canadian Murda Beatz (sidenote, we asked for it a week prior), is also one of the three shared on last week's OVO Sound Radio, and like the "One Dance" remix, it saw colossal gains in its second week. The tracks rises from #13 to #3.
2. DJ Khaled Feat. Drake - For Free
Although it's been knocked off the top of the chart, Khaled's first Major Key single is the now the best bet at cracking million views on HNHH since Drake's Throne-featuring version of "Pop Style" did it back in April. That certainly bodes well for Khaled's upcoming project, but now he'll have to match the success of "For Free" with his future offerings. The tracks falls from #1 to #2 in its second week out.
1. Drake - 4PM In Calabasas (Prod. By Vinylz & Frank Dukes)
Shit-talking Drake. It's a mode of his that we missed out on for much of Views, at least outside of "Hype," but he's still got it in him, as is very evident on "4PM IN Calabasas." People were excited enough about the latest in Drizzy's location-oriented series to propel it into the top ten in just over 24 hours last week, but this time around, its dominance is fully realized. "4PM In Calabasas" moves up from #8 to #1 in its second week of eligibility.
