The 2016 BET Awards just got a whole lot better.

BET has announced that they will honor Prince at the 2016 BET Awards with a special live tribute performance from D'Angelo, The Roots, Janelle Monae, and others.

Madonna closed the Billboard Music Awards last month by singing "Purple Rain" with Stevie Wonder. The performance was, uh, polarizing. BET clapped back with a Twitter post that read, “Yeah, we saw that. Don’t worry. We got you.”

They weren't joking. The two best Prince tributes since the legendary singer's tragic demise in April have both come from D'Angelo -- a "Venus di Milo" electric piano cover and a heart-wrenching rendition of "Sometimes it Snows in April" on The Tonight Show.

BET Also announced the Alicia Keys and Maxwell will perform at the BET Awards, which are set to take place on Sunday, June 26 at Los Angeles' Microsoft Theater.
