Gibbs has been apprehended in France.

Freddie Gibbs has been placed under arrest in Toulouse, France for his connection to an alleged rape in Austria in 2015. The rapper, real name Fredrick Tipton, was taken into custody by French police Thursday, June 2nd, just as he was about to perform at the Rex, a venue in the city.

La Depeche reports that a European warrant called for Gibbs' arrest for the crime, and that he is currently pending extradition to Austria for questioning. The decision will be made in the coming days.

AllHipHop has acquired a statement from Freddie's lawyer, Scott Leemon, who writes, "Freddie Gibbs adamantly denies the allegations that have been levied against Austrian authorities... It makes you wonder why it took almost a year for Austrian officials to bring these charges... Freddie will be fighting the extradition request as these are nothing more than trumped up charges."

Gibbs was embarking on a world tour when he was apprehended by French authorities, with dates planned in Spain, Ireland, London, and Canada.

Further information on the case will be provided as details arrive.
