Troy Ave was supposed to appear in court yesterday, though his trial commencement date has been delayed while he's still in the hospital recovering from surgery for a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Last Thursday (May 26), after a shooting put an abrupt end to a T.I. concert in NYC the night before, the rap world was shocked to discover that Brooklyn's Troy Ave was named as a primary suspect -- particularly as surveillance footage surfaced showing Troy entering a backstage green room and opening fire. He was arrested and charged with attempted murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. At the time of his arrest, Troy was at a Manhattan hospital being treated for a gunshot wound, which was reportedly self-inflicted during the backstage gunfight. He was supposed to appear in court yesterday (May 28), but according to the New York Daily News, he remains at the NYU Langone Medical Center, thus delaying the start date of his trial.

At the time of yesterday's scheduled court appearance, Troy was undergoing surgery to have bone fragments removed from his leg. His rescheduled court date has not yet been reported and will likely be set when he's recovered from his leg surgery.

Officials believe that Troy fired off a total of five shots at Irving Plaza, reports the Daily News. At this point, it's unclear if there were additional shots fired by anyone else. Once police are finished doing ballistics tests at the scene, sources say that Troy could be hit with a full-on murder charge. As of now, the only victim of the shooting that has been pronounced dead is a man who was thought to have been a close affiliate of Troy's, Ronald McPhatter, also known as B$B Banga. It's thus assumed that Troy is currently a suspect in McPhatter's murder.
