Drake confirms that his new album, "VIEWS," sold 1 million copies in a week.

Yesterday, Republic Records, the company primarily responsible for the distribution of Drake's new album, reported that VIEWS had sold the equivalent of 1.2 million copies in its first six days of availability. Those numbers suggest that the album is already platinum, though official certification hasn't yet been provided by the RIAA. Drake himself, though, has now confirmed Republic's findings -- well, not the exact numbers, but close enough. He told his fans today that VIEWS was able to sell 1 million copies in a week. "I am beyond grateful for this milestone," he wrote on Instagram. "Thank you for listening."

Unless Drake and Republic are somehow mistaken, the RIAA should anoint VIEWS with platinum status in the near future. As of today, after initially being exclusive to Apple Music and iTunes, VIEWS is now available for physical purchase, and the album can be bought on other digital retailers. It won't be available to stream on platforms like Tidal and Spotify until May 13.
