Adele "graciously passed" on the opportunity to appear on Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' new album, "This Unruly Mess I've Made."

There were a number of high-profile features on Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' This Unruly Mess I've Made, but one industry superstar declined an invitation to appear on the Seattle duo's sophomore album. In an interview with The New York Times, Macklemore revealed he had reached out to Adele to collaborate on the song "Growing Up," but the British singer/songwriter "graciously passed" on the opportunity.

Though Adele doesn't show up on Macklemore's "Growing Up," a track, dedicated to his then-newborn daughter, that was released last August, he and Lewis were able to snag a feature from another British singer of international acclaim, Ed Sheeran, who ended up singing the hook.

According to HDD's first-week sales projections, as reported yesterday, This Unruly Mess I've Made is expected to sell between 50-60,000 copies, a huge drop from the initial sales of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' debut album, The Heist, which was certified platinum in August 2013. Would an Adele appearance have helped the album's underwhelming sales?
