Jordan digs deep into its vault for a rumored commemorative "Kobe Pack."

Ever since Kobe Bryant announced his retirement mid-season, the Lakers’ season has been more about the “Kobe Farewell Tour” than the on court performance (which is perfectly fine if you’ve watched any Lakers games). He’s even talking about his retirement plans before the season is over.

Jordan Brand has taken notice, and is rumored to be producing a “Kobe Pack” to commemorate the Lakers star. Jordan Brand originally created these kicks when Kobe Bryant was between shoe deals, having left his Adidas partnership (he was ahead of his time). Of course, he ended up creating his own shoe line with Nike rather than accept a sponsorship under the Jordan label, and the rest is history.

The rumored “Kobe Pack” will include two pairs of remastered player edition Kobe Bryant shoes. The sneakers selected for the pack are the Air Jordan 3s and Air Jordan 8s, both predominantly white with purple and gold lakers accent colors.

This is the first time a player edition sneaker will get the general release treatment. Player edition kicks are usually produced in such limited numbers that they become some of the most highly coveted collectors items in the world, routinely going for thousands of dollars.

No set release date yet, but February is the rumored month. It would make sense for Jordan Brand to release the sneakers during Kobe Bryant’s final All Star game.
