Eminem and his wife Kim are no strangers to addiction. The rapper has had his own very public battle with addiction over the years, eventually getting clean and releasing the album Recovery in the process.
Unfortunately, it appears addiction has surfaced in Marshall and Kim Mathers’ lives once again, as RadarOnline is reporting Kim’s twin sister Dawn Scott died Tuesday of “an apparent heroin overdose, pending toxicology test.” She was found in a trailer park very close to where the three grew up together.
Marshall Mathers and his family had previously adopted Dawn Scott’s daughter Alaina, and the Detroit rapper has shouted her out in past songs. Scott has dealt with addiction for some time according to her on-and-off boyfriend Les Martin, who said Scott was “doing any kind of drugs she could get her hands on. Heroin, cocaine, Adderall. If it was a pill, she would take it.”
RadarOnline previously reported that Eminem’s family had cut her off completely, despite their $170 million net worth. However, anyone who has dealt with addiction in the past (Eminem included) knows that helping someone who is in the throes of addiction might just be enabling them.
Eminem and his wife have yet to respond to the news, but our hearts go out to them.
