The fourth time's a charm. After being nominated four times, most recently this past October, N.W.A. has finally been granted a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The veteran rap group, who returned to the spotlight this past year thanks to a very successful biopic, have been announced as 2016's inductees. They'll be joined by Cheap Trick, Chicago, Deep Purple and Steve Miller. The group will be inducted during a ceremony at the Barclays Center on April 8th, you'll be able to purchase tickets for the ceremony come February. It'll also be aired on HBO.
Ice Cube and Dr. Dre spoke on the honor with Rolling Stone. Cube told the publication, "This means that the group's mark is solidified. We got some of the most creative, talented people in N.W.A that's ever been compiled in one group. It's just exciting that the group as a whole gets recognized by the whole industry as Hall of Fame-worthy."
Dr. Dre added, 'When we started N.W.A, I couldn't have imagined this. I never thought the type of music we were making would receive such a high accolade. I have always done what I love to do, so to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is unreal. I am humbled to be included in such an amazing group of great artists."
Congrats to the group!
