When Erykah Badu hosted the Soul Train Awards two weeks ago, she garnered the media's attention with a little skit she did centered around Iggy Azalea. The consensus of the skit was that Iggy is not real rap, as Erykah pretended to answer a cellphone, saying, "Who is this? Iggy Azalea? Yeah, hey... no, no, no, you can come, 'cause what you doin’ is definitely not rap."
Iggy, of course, responded on twitter. Now Erykah has issued an apology, sorta, during a recent twitter Q&A she hosted. When a user asked her, "why you do iggy like that," she responded with a twitter video.
"You know what, I wanna do this for my daughters, I wanna apologize to Iggy Azalea because she's one of their favorite artists, and they listen to her all the time. It's for them...But when I really think about it, if yall love her so much, why don't you be with her then?? Go on, be with her yall. Go'n Puma, go'n Mars," she said, before asking if Iggy would take on the motherly duties that Erykah Badu does for her children.
It's pretty funny. Watch below.
