It’s with heavy hearts that we report this morning that DJ White Owl, the popular mixtape DJ who reigned supreme during the “mixtape Weezy” days, has sadly passed away.
His artist & close friend, Pokerface, first confirmed the news on Instagram Sunday night, before several others peers took to social media throughout Monday to pay their respects, including Big Mike, DJ Green Lantern, Joe Budden, and Boston's DJ Beanz, among others.
White Owl ran dominance for over a decade thanks to his “Drop That” mixtape series, which saw over a hundred volumes released and exclusives from the likes of Lil Wayne, Dipset, D Block, and others. His famous “DJ White Owl Drop That” tag was one of the first of its kind, and made him a staple in the mixtape era.
The cause of his death is unknown at the moment, but cources close to WhiteOwl speculate that an undisclosed long-term illness may have played a part. Either way, it’s hella sad and we at HNHH send out deepest condolences to his friends & family.
