ASAP Rocky's joke about a potential collaborative mixtape with Rod Stewart was misinterpreted as an actual announcement yesterday, with many publications running with the story. The quote came from an interview with Vulture, in which he said "Me and Rod Stewart have a mixtape coming out. It’s called Born to Be Pretty and it’s definitely a panty-dropper. Droppin’ this summer. You already know." Later on, he joked that he and Dope co-star Zoe Kravitz had a Lenny Kravitz-hosted mixtape dropping as well, but for some reason it didn't tip anyone off.
The story got so out of hand that Rocky (who doesn't tweet all that often) addressed the mix-up on Twitter, confirming that Born To Be Pretty was not a real project.
While he was there, Rocky decided to drop some actual news, revealing a new project titled Cozy Tapes Vol. 1. While he shared no details of the effort, he closed the tweet with "RIP Yams", which suggests he could be referring to ASAP Yams album he's been helping put together.
