Our Top 100 updates every week with the newest and most-listened to tracks on HotNewHipHop. As of the charts closing this week, here's what readers were listening to.
10) T-Pain ft. Yo Gotti and Snootie Wild - Represent
Before last week, T-Pain's name was a bit of a punchline in 2015. He was the walking representation of a phase that rap had moved beyond. But then The Iron Way dropped.
Tracks like "Represent" are auto-tuned as ever, but prove that Tallahassee's finest still has plenty of great songs left in his tank.
9) Boosie Badazz ft. 50 Cent – Paid
Fiddy has been trying to insert his name back into the relevant rap game discussion for years. It appears what he needed was someone who wants to be back on top even harder than he does.
“Paid” is the standout track from the surprise mixtape Every Ghetto, Every City Vol. 1, with a beat that sounds like it dropped straight from 50’s 2003 heyday. The track jumped 15 spots to squeak into the HNHH Top 10 this past week.
The mixtape largely serves as a way to promote Boosie’s stable of rappers, The Bad Azz Music Syndicate. But if 50 and Boosie get some shine on tracks like this, that’s all the better.
8) Wiz Khalifa & Ty Dolla Sign – Judge It
The Wiz hate-train continues.
This track from Khalifa and Ty’s collaborative EP Talk About It In The Morning got a lukewarm reception from HNHH readers, but interest (and excellent production from the Bmmb) drove the track into a number 9 spot during its first week on the charts. Even if you hated, you still clicked.
7) Lil Durk ft. Jerermih – Like Me
This unlikely Chi Town collaboration from Durk’s upcoming debut fell a bit after rocketing to the number 3 position on our charts last week. The Remember My Name track dropped a total of 5 spots to remain in the Top 10 at number 8.
6) Fabolous – Shook Ones (Freestyle)
Fab is like Bizarro Wiz to HNHH readers. He can release ANYTHING and the New York heads will push it to the top so they can pretend hip-hop hasn’t moved on (presumably while wearing their letterman jacket from high school and calling ex-girlfriends, word to Drake).
That being said, this freestyle over the Mobb Deep classic “Shook Ones Part II” is worth the acclaim and actually managed to move up two spots during its second week in the Top 10.
5) Wale ft. Kanye West - The Summer League
This strange Kanye and Wale cut continues to hold on to positions in the Top 10 for dear life. The track did fall 5 spots, vacating the charts top position for a slot at number six.
4) Young Thug - Just Might Be
Young Thug hate runs deep. So deep, in fact, that HNHH readers flocked to a track that’s been scrubbed from Soundcloud since last week to talk about how much they can’t stand the ATL weirdo.
“Just Might Be” garnered enough negative attention to remain at number 4 this week.
3) Wiz Khalifa ft. Curren$y – Uber Driver
There are two ways Wiz can salvage his career. Get way weirder or fall back into his early material. With the upcoming #2009 mixtape, it seems like Khalifa has chosen the latter.
Wiz teamed up with fellow stoner rap luminary Curren$y for the first track from the new mixtape, which landed at number 3 during its first week on the charts.
And we can’t hate. “Uber Driver” is an example of why we allowed Khalifa into our earbuds in the first place.
2) Wale ft. J. Cole – The Pessimist
This organ-driven, upbeat track was apparently the soundtrack to many HNHH readers’ Easter celebrations. The preview track from The Album About Nothing (which dropped last week) gained three spots in its second week on the charts to land in second place.
1) Rihanna – Bitch Better Have My Money
RiRi saw her shot and she took it.
With “The Summer League” finally dropping down the charts, Rihanna’s aggro banger slid into the top spot from its former slot at number 2.
