It's no accident that most festival lineups are announced in the dead of winter. The thought of seeing your favorite artists performing on a beautiful summer day seems so unattainable during the miserably cold season that buying tickets to an event 6 months away seems like your only escape.
Essence is the latest festival to announce it's list of performers, and it sports an impressive list of cross-generational artists. While Kendrick Lamar and Mary J. Blige will split headlining duties, Erykah Badu, India.Arie, Common, SZA, and more will join them for the show for the Independence day celebration.
Other announced acts include Floetry, Kelly Price, Lianne La Havas, Elle Varner, Esperanza Spalding, Raheem DeVaughn, Mali Music, Eric Roberson, Teedra Moses, Avery*Sunshine, Bilal, Goapele, Robert Glasper, Trombone Shorty, Kool Moe Dee, Doug E. Fresh, Mystikal, Slick Rick, and many more.
Tickets will be available Wednesday, February 25th. The festival itself happens July 2-5 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.
