It's now been a few months since Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa's divorce was finalized, with each of them getting over the other in various, highly public ways in the months that followed. While it's clear that their relationship had its problems, Rose has just revealed a shocking tidbit about her family's attitude towards Khalifa that makes the couple's fallout look dignified in comparison.
Rose, who is half-Cape Veridian and half-Italian, was interviewed by OWN for their upcoming TV special "Light Girls" (a follow-up to "Black Girls"), and said her family didn't attend her and Khalifa's 2013 wedding due to his skin color. “With my family," she said, "they feel like they’re more superior, or better than an African American, because we’re Creole and we have culture." As she's had several high-profile relationships with African American men, Rose has clearly had to deal with this prejudice for a while, but this is the first time she's spoken publicly about it.
"I'm angry that my family is like that and they wanna 'pass' so bad that they raised my mom and my uncles and my aunts to not fully know their culture," she continued, adding, "I feel like that's why my father is white."
Watch an excerpt of her interview below, and catch the full thing on OWN tonight at 9 PM, EST.
