Today Kendrick Lamar's Billboard magazine cover, as well as the story that goes along with it, was unveiled in its entirety. Kendrick isn't the most outspoken individual in the rap game, he's not the type to take his opinions and blast them all over twitter (like someone else in this news article), but he doesn't shy from offering an opinion when asked directly.
During the Billboard story, K. Dot was asked about the situation in Ferguson and Michael Brown, to which he replied, ,"I wish somebody would look in our neighborhood knowing that it's already a situation, mentally, where it's fucked up. What happened to [Michael Brown] should've never happened. Never. But when we don't have respect for ourselves, how do we expect them to respect us? It starts from within. Don't start with just a rally, don't start from looting -- it starts from within."
This has proven to be the ire of twitter today, with many fans and fellow artists alike calling out Kendrick for saying that "it starts from within." Azealia Banks was among them, throwing Kendrick under the bus and asking him to speak for his "fucking" self.
