Today, a "posse cut" is more or less a marketing scheme. For a record label, what easier way is there to sell a single than by getting all of the biggest artists of the time and putting them on one song? It's like The Avengers for rap fans!
For this list, we attempt to illustrate the evolution of hip-hop's sound over time. Beginning in the late 1980s and carry through to today, the posse cuts found here are presented in chronological order for direct comparison to songs of rap music's past.

Note: established groups like Wu-Tang Clan and Slaughterhouse were intentionally left out as we're trying to focus more on collaborative efforts outside of an artist's direct camp.
