Weekly review of the Hip-Hop and R&B sales/charts.

This week we see one new entry below, belonging to October's Very Own's PARTYNEXTDOOR. The r'n'b singer is relatively new, having released his first official mixtape PARTYNEXTDOOR just last summer. Nonetheless, he's already developed quite the loyal following, undoubtedly due (in part) to his affiliation with Drizzy. The Toronto singer has been able to move a solid 15k, almost 16k, since his debut album PARTYNEXTDOOR 2 dropped, which is a good sign of things to come for the singer. We will probably see his opening week numbers rise up as he gets a bit more practice under his belt (and let's just compare those debut week numbers to a very seasoned rapper, Common: Nobody's Smiling did 24k last week). Common's album has made a quick descent from his #6 debut, dropping down to #29 this week. Peep what he managed to sell, along with other r'n'b and hip-hop artists below.

1)         PARTYNEXTDOOR— PARTYNEXTDOOR 2 : PND dropped off his second instalment in his self-titled series under Drake’s OVO imprint recently, and he managed to make a debut on Billboard’s 200 this week. The Toronto native entered the charts at #15, moving 15,924 units, which is definitely not too shabby for such a new artist (and his first official commercial release).

2)         Trey Songz— Trigga: Trigga continues to drop, this week coming in right below fellow r’n’b artist PND at #16. Trey moved out 13,920 copies of Trigga, bringing his total sales to 191,416.

3)         Iggy Azalea— The New Classic: Iggy keeps the #18 spot on the Billboard 200 all to herself, not moving since last week. After charting for 15 weeks, the Australian beauty has sold another 12,056 copies, with total sales up to 270,442.

4)         Common— Nobody’s Smiling: Com felt a steep drop this week, after sitting at #6 last week, he finds himself at #29. After just two weeks of charting, Nobody’s Smiling was able to push out 8,066 units. Common’s total sales are at 32,603.

5)         PharrellG I R L: Pharrell creeps down three spots this week, landing at #40. The artist has been charting for 22 weeks, and moved another 6,138 units with total sales of 489,635.

6)        John LegendLove In The Future: John Legend isn’t going anywhere too soon. He’s been a staple on the Billboard 200 since Love In The Future dropped, which was 48 weeks ago. This week the singer rises up five spots to #41, selling 6,063 units. His total sales are 589,345.

7)         August AlsinaTestimony: August Alsina comes up behind John Legend this week, Testimony dropping down to #54. The singer’s debut album still sold 5,109 copies, with total sales of 173,600.

8)          Eminem— The Marshall Mathers LP 2: Em falls just one rank over the last seven days, coming in at #60. The rapper was able to sell another 4,733 copies of MMLP2, while his total sales climbed to an astounding 2,169,610.

9)         BeyonceBeyonce: Queen Bey came up in the Billboard 200 world this week, rising from #66 to #61. The singer sold 4,724 copies of Beyonce this week, while her total sales are almost matching Eminem’s, at 2,026,364.

10)        G-Eazy—These Things Happen: G-Eazy rounds off the list today with his independently-released album These Things Happen. The LP has been charting for 6 weeks now, doing fairly well on the 200 up againt plenty of major mainstream releases. This week he drops from #60 to #65.

As we go further down the chart, we find Childish Gambino’s Because the Internet is still charting at #91 which happens to be up three spots from last week. ScHoolboy Q is slightly below Gambino, with Oxymoron rising up as well from #98 to #94. Drake’s Nothing Was The Same is sitting comfy at #97, which is a drop from last week’s #90—he sold 3,000 copies this week while total sales for NWTS are at 1,604,000. Finally, Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city comes in at #98 down from #92.
