There is sometimes a fine line between hip hop and advertising, with rappers constantly namechecking their favorite brands, or even promoting their own. A french art director by the name of David Redon may have seen this connection when he began work on a project called "Ads Libitum", which reimagines rap songs as vintage ads.
Pulling from 1950s style one-pagers, Redon has turned songs from Snoop Dogg, Drake, Tupac, The Notorious B.I.G. and more into colorful promotional posters. We've assembled nine of his best pieces for you to sample. For more work from the project make sure to check out Redon's tumblr.
