Weekly review of the Hip-Hop and R&B sales/charts.

With the holiday season winding down, we're still seeing the affect it had on the charts and the sales. It seems like almost everyone on today's Charts round-up had an increase in sales and a rise up the Billboard 200 in the past seven days except for B.o.B. Unfortunately, Underground Luxury does not seem to be taking off in any way, and although it was released in time to give as a Christmas gift, it apparently wasn't. For his second week on the charts Bobby Ray sold 19,000 units, and dropped to #30. On the other hand, rappers like Childish Gambino and Drake benefited from the past week, rising up the charts and selling more albums. Check out how others fared this week below.

1)           BeyonceBeyonce: Beyonce sits atop the Billboard 200 for third consecutive week. The visual album from the singer continues to sell digitally and physical copies, moving yet another 310,000 copies. Her total sales have surpassed 1 milly, 1,301,000.

2)          Eminem— The Marshall Mathers LP 2: MMLP2 has seen a rise in spots over the past few weeks, after sitting at #6 last week Em has now moved up to #3 on the charts. While his album has received mixed reviews, it nonetheless sold another 120,000 copies over the past seven days. The Detroit native’s total album sales are nearing 2 million aka 2x platinum, currently at 1,727,000.

3)          Justin TimberlakeThe 20/20 Experience 2: JT is another one who has been rising up the Billboard 200 this holiday season. 2 Of 2 sold 55,000 units this week, bringing Justin’s grand total up to 781,000. Not quite the sales for the first 20/20 Experience but still strong.

4)         Drake— Nothing Was The Same: You guessed it. Drizzy also rose up the charts this week, with Nothing Was The Same mounting climbing from #20 to #16, after spending 14 weeks on the charts. Drake’s album pushed out 49,000 copies, as his total sales rise to 1,344,000.

5)         R. Kelly —Black Panties: Kellz latest effort is not exactly thriving on the Billboard 200, but it’s not doing too badly either. This week Black Panties fell from #15 to #17 sold 44,000 copies. Kelly’s total sales are 238,000.

6)         Childish Gambino—Because The Internet: Gambino had a spurt up the charts this past week, with his Internet-themed album rising from #25 to #20. After charting for 3 weeks, the rapper sold 33,000 copies bringing his total sales up to 157,000.

7)         Macklemore & Ryan Leiws—The Heist: These two have dominated 2013 and as we begin 2014, it looks like they’re sticking around. The Heist comes in at #27 this week (that’s up from #50 last week), selling 22,000. Total sales for the independent album are at 1,232,000. He’s been charting for 64 weeks.

8)         Justin Timberlake—The 20/20 Experience:  The first instalment of The 20/20 Experience comes up behind the second, but similar to The Heist it rose up from #49 to #28 this week. Justin sold another 20,000 copies of this album, with total sales of 2,427,000.

9)          B.o.B —Underground Luxury: Bobby Ray’s new album wasn’t off to the best start, as we saw last week he debuted at #22. This week he’s fallen further to #30, and it’s looking like it’ll be a quick downfall for B.o.B. He’s moved another 19,000 units, add that to his 35k and his total sales are 54,000.

10)       Yo Gotti— I Am: Last week Yo Gotti had fallen off to #109 on the Billboard 200, making it seem like his charting time would soon be up. However this week Gotti rises up to #67, proving he’s not done just yet. I Am sold another 12,000 copies with total sales of 112,000.

This past week has been kind to Kendrick Lamar as well, with good kid, m.A.A.d city rising up from #171 to #87 and selling 11k (his total sales are 1,126,000). 2 Chainz' B.O.A.T.S. II: #METime did not have a similar fate, as Tity Boi fell down to #136 moving 7,600 units. Jay Z's MCHG remains stagnant at #163, moving 8,900 units as his total sales rise to 1,099,000. On a side, random note, Drake's Take Care happened to re-enter the Billboard 200 this week at #170, as did J. Cole's Born Sinner at #172.
