He may have been gone for awhile, but Tupac Shakur is still firmly embedded within pop culture and specifically hip hop, as evidenced by the ‘Pac hologram at Coachella this past year. Now Tupac’s charitable organization, The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation is teaming up with Velocity World Media to broadcast concerts celebrating Shakur’s influence on art and culture at several clubs, restaurants and theaters across the U.S.
Tupac’s Foundation will help provide the top artists to perform in Velocity’s “First Spin” event series, which will feature some of the nation’s top artists being broadcasted in HD, and in cutting edge venues around the country.
In a statement, Vernal Cambridge, the executive director of TASF said these concerts will honor Tupac while showcasing rising talent, “We like to honor his style by defying convention in our own way. That’s why we’re offering fans a way to support the foundation’s charitable work and celebrate Tupac’s memory through an up-close-and-personal experience with some of today’s brightest artists.”
The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation, which is located in Georgia, will receive charitable funds raised from the programming. President and CEO of Velocity World Media, Philip Elias says the funds will serve as a resource for to support children creatively, “We’re honored to provide a powerful media platform for the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation to celebrate Tupac’s impact on music while raising money to support creative arts and early education programs that serve as a true resource for children and families.”
