Most people are now familiar with Chief Keef's story-- prior to blowing up in the rap game, the Chicago resident was arrested in 2011, when he aimed a gun at local police. Although we've gotten plenty of news on Keef's probation hearings, pending or otherwise, we do not have much information on the night in question. Now some details on Chief Keef's arrest incident have been unearthed.
DNAinfo.Com reports that on the specific night in December police responded to a call of shots fired in Keef's neighborhood. As cops arrived, Keef left his grandmother's house with a coat over his hands in front of his waistband. A policeman came to question Keef, who dropped his coat and flashed a blue-steel handgun before running away, according to police reports.
During the chase, the then-16-year-old Keef turned twice and pointed his gun at the cops. As well it is reported that the police "discharged their weapons" several times but missed.
Chief Keef ran about half a block before cops nabbed him, and an officer sustained bruises after struggling with Keef while trying to detain him.
Keef was charged with four felonies in the end, three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm on a police officer and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. He also was charged with a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest.
The rapper returns to court this month for a probation violation hearing surrounding his use of a gun for a Pitchfork Media video and for failing to complete his GED as scheduled. If he is charged with violating his probation, it is currently unclear how much time the Finally Rich rapper could serve, or where he would serve it. In some instances, juveniles are detained in Cook County jail along with adults.
