In the wake of that crazy bitch Hurricane Sandy chances are people might go a little crazy themselves. So if you have to evacuate or you have to do just the opposite, and stay inside all day, the only thing that will make the time past faster (or more enjoyably, at least), is good music. Check out these three songs below, and although it's definitely not a sufficient amount, it's a start.
Angel Haze- Doo Wop (That Thing)
Honestly, I don't listen to many female rappers. I'm not sure, you'd think I'd be able to relate but I dunno. Anyways, I've listened to an Angel Haze track here and there, and the other week she dropped her Classick EP. I liked the idea of going in over 'classic' beats, instead of over-used industry instrumentals. And it turns out, Angel Haze can really spit. On her song over Eminem's “Cleaning Out My Closet” she's brutally honest, it's pretty shocking. On this track, over Lauryn Hill's instrumental, she also uses her brutal honesty to speak to women about men. It's refreshing to hear this from a female lyrcist in the rap game, and I only hope she grows a bit and develops her own sound with her own beats.
JMSN- Jameson
JMSN (pronounced like the liquor, and the name of this song-- Jameson) is more r'n'b then hip-hop if anything, but the dude creates smooth ass music. He's also a producer, which doesn't hurt. I'm not sure if he did his own beats on his debut album †Priscilla† but the beats are sick. The flow and style may be slightly reminiscent of The Weeknd and his voice is slightly reminiscent of Justin Timberlake, but he's definitely in his own lane. He re-released his debut album for free last week, in celebration of Kendrick Lamar's good kid, m.A.A.d city (on which he appears), so you can grab that on HNHH here!
Gilbere Forte- Pray
I had kinda forgotten about Gilbere Forte, I haven't heard anything from him in a long minute. Then out of nowhere, I find this track from him, which is apparently going on some indie flick's soundtrack of the same name (PRAY). And apparently Gilbere is also dropping an EP of the same name. So just incase you can't get enough of the word, here's the title track, which has a dope sample of the word “pray.”
