Producer Kenoe says Fabolous' "I'm So NY" produced by Just Blaze, was actually his beat containing "same elements and exact same drum pattern".

One of the hottest tracks to drop over the weekend was the Just Blaze produced “I’m So NY” by Fabolous.  According to producer Kenoe, the track was actually his and features the same drum pattern and musical elements in a beat he produced for Fabolous, but asked him to not use it.

In an interview with HipHopWired, the “Beez in the Trap” producer talked about putting a beat together for NY native Fabolous, but decided he didn’t want it used once he heard the “I’m so NY that Weezy probably hates me” hook, which is a reference to anti-New York comments Lil Wayne made recently.

When discussing how the beat made the rounds, Kenoe said [from HHDX], "Fab hit me on the phone and was like, 'Yo I got this record and I want to drop it.  He was like, 'I had the beat for a minute,' and he called Just Blaze 'cause he had been working with him to see if he made the beat,” adding that even Just Blaze said the beat was not his, “Just Blaze said no, it wasn't his beat. So then he told me how he had Wayne in the intro, etc.”

Kenoe didn’t like the idea of using Tunechi in the intro or hook and didn’t want his beat used, “After I heard it, I told his people I didn't want no part of it because Wayne is my people. If he want to use the beat take, Wayne off the intro and change the hook cause I felt like it could be a big record if he put the real hook on it."

As far as Kenoe was concerned, his beat was being shelved, but when he heard the record the instrumental was very similar to his own, “I check back with [Fab's people] and he told me they decided to not use the beat. Then I get a call today from my people and they like 'Fab drop[ped] this record,' and they sent it to me and when I heard [it] I hear[d] the same elements and exact same drum pattern. I'm like, damn.”

He was surprised that a producer of Just Blaze’s pedigree would use his beat, “Just Blaze [is] supposed to be a big-time producer but he is not creative enough to make a whole new beat on his own?"
