As we previously reported, J. Cole was honoured by his hometown in North Carolina with a J. Cole Day on March 1st, along with Dreamville Weekend this weekend.
Cole returned to Fayetteville and spoke to his old school, Terry Sanford High, where he once played basketball. He told the students who were packed into the gym of the school, "The world is much bigger than Fort Bragg Road; I want you all to go grab your dreams. I don’t get to come back as often as I used to, so when I do I really got to take advantage of it."
Cole says he's not rich yet, but he's taken care of his mom, "I paid all of my bills,” Cole told the students, "I bought some Jordans (shoes), but I mostly saved my money. I just now got my first car. I’m not rich enough yet, but I want to take care of my mom; I don’t want her to work anymore."
