After almost two years in prison, former Dipset rapper JR Writer returned home to Harlem at the end of last year, and he got right back into the game by dropping the track "First 48" within the same month. He's stayed relatively quiet since, focusing on gearing up the anticipation for his official comeback tape, Meet Zeus, which is finally here. Zeus is Writer's post-prison moniker, and the new tape provides an introduction to the new persona he conjured up behind bars as well as a reminder of all that he achieved before going away. It's unclear what Writer's rapport with the other Diplomats is like these days, though he's adamant that he was a crucial part of the original movement. "You can't mention Dipset without mentioning me," he raps on the opening track.
There happens to be a Meet Zeus track called "Dip$et," though it surprisingly features two young Atlanta artists in Madeintyo and Rich the Kid. Other features are pulled from New York, including Dave East, Red Cafe, and JR's brother, Fred Money. The majority of the production is handled by Criss Childs.
