With the 2016 Summer Olympics quickly coming up on the calendar, Nike has begun ramping up their marketing around the big event. Two of their sure bets are the USA men’s and women’s basketball teams, who have absolutely dominated opponents ever since that embarrassing 3rd place finish in 2004 for the men's team. Today they’ve unveiled the USA basketball uniforms for the games in Rio De Janeiro.
The uniform’s design is extra minimal this year, dominated by white. The uniforms are part of the Nike Vapor collection and feature AeroSwift technology. A single color is used for the ‘USA’ text and another for the player’s number, both of which are apparently iridescent. The fonts “take inspiration from classic American typography,” and although we aren’t quite sure what typography is classically American, we'll take their word for it.
Kevin Durant and Elena Delle Donne model the jerseys for Nike, and both of them rock the newest versions of their Nike sneaker of choice. Kevin Durant shows off his new KD8 Elite with the built-in neoprene compression sock, while Elena Delle Donne wears the Nike Hyperdunk 2016 Elite.
