Today marks fifteen years since Aaliyah tragically passed away, after the plane she boarded crashed shortly after takeoff. It's crazy to think that if she were alive today she'd only be 37-years old-- that's younger than 2 Chainz. She left behind a devoted fanbase and a host of classic r'n'b jams, one of which we're highlighting for today's Throwback Thursday track, as is only right.
"Age Ain't Nothing But A Number" was the lead single off Aaliyah's debut album of the same name, released in 1994. Of course the song and album has storied history, with R. Kelly coming on to write and produce, and the two becoming an item despite a significant age difference. Even so Aaliyah's music has always been the first focus, and controversies of her personal life secondary.

Quotable Lyrics
Age ain't nothing but a number
Throwing down ain't nothing but a thang
This lovin' I have for you
It'll never change
